Checkout Assistant Volunteers

Job Description: You will rotate with other Checkout Assistants to assist with the flow of the checkout line. You will direct people checking out to the next available cashier. While not working the checkout line you will be a floater helping the Cashier Helpers with cutting tags and counting items. Also, watch for switched or removed tags. Team Members: Attend area team meetings for direction after check in Friday,  Help with the set up of cashier area and then wait to be released to help in Furniture or Seasonal. Hang signs and arrange furniture according to Area Leader direction. Pull items that are worn, torn, stained, broken, safety hazards, etc. – At the end of set up, the Area Leader will go through the items to reevaluate. Keep our standard high! Notify seller of any pulled item so that they can return it to their vehicle. Return on Saturday by roll call During the sale: Stay on task You will rotate with other Checkout Assistants to assist with the flow of the checkout line. You will direct people checking out to the next available cashier. While not working the checkout line you will be a floater, helping the Cashier Helpers with cutting tags and counting items. When cutting tags - Cut the bottom portion of the tags off of the items to be purchased and gather them neatly for the Cashier Helper. Then the Cashier Helper will enter on the Item Count Slip the Number of Items and their Initials then place the slip and cut tags in the ziplock bag and give to Cashier. Then count the number of items purchased. There must always be an exact match of items, tags and scanned items, close enough does not work! Check for signs of switching tags (on pins - has tape been removed, pinned in a weird spot, or if the description doesn’t match). Be careful to not miss any items. Do not leave your area without checking with your Area Leader first! When asked, bring your numbered bin out and place in order around the perimeter of the room. Wait for Roll-call before leaving
